How Machu Picchu Circuit 2 Availability Works
Machu Picchu is not an open-access site. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture limits the number of visitors per day. Circuit 2 has the highest demand and is frequently the first to reach capacity.
Availability is allocated by specific time slots — 06:00, 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00 entry. Each slot has a fixed number of spaces. When a slot fills, it's gone. There is no waitlist and no walk-in option at the gate.
When you book through our package, we check real-time inventory and confirm your entry ticket, licensed guide, and bus for the same date and time — everything locked in before you arrive in Aguas Calientes.
Machu Picchu Availability by Season
| Period | Demand | Typical Lead Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| June – August | Very High | 2–3 months ahead | Peak season. Circuit 2 frequently sold out. |
| December – January | Very High | 2–3 months ahead | Holiday season. Book early. |
| March – May | Moderate–High | 2–4 weeks ahead | Shoulder season. Rainy season ending. |
| September – November | Moderate | 1–3 weeks ahead | Best availability window. Less crowded. |
| February | Lower | Days to 1 week | Rainy season. Some site restrictions possible. |
Even in low-demand periods, the 06:00 AM entry slot is consistently the first to fill. If photography is a priority, book early morning as far ahead as possible.
What to Do If Circuit 2 Is Sold Out
Option 1 — Try Circuit 3B
Circuit 3B covers the upper panoramic ridge with similar views from a higher vantage. It has a separate allocation, so it may still have openings when Circuit 2 is full. Both circuits are available in our packages.
Option 2 — Adjust Your Date
Shifting by one or two days often opens availability. Midweek dates (Tuesday–Thursday) tend to have better availability than weekends and national holidays.
Option 3 — Contact Us Directly
We monitor inventory daily and sometimes have access to last-minute slots as cancellations open up. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates. See also our guide to last-minute Machu Picchu tickets.
Tell us your travel dates and number of travelers. We confirm availability and hold your spot while you decide.
Once You Confirm Availability — How to Book
Select your package on our booking page, choose your time slot, provide passport numbers for each traveler, and complete payment. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable once issued. For full entry rules, see our Machu Picchu entry requirements guide. For pricing, see the Circuit 2 ticket price breakdown.
